Process Plant Operations Trainee

Programmed Skilled Workforce, in partnership with Tronox (Kwinana) is looking for a driven and motivated Process Plant Operations Trainee who to undertake a Certificate III in Process Plant Operations, delivered over a 24-month period. Tronox is a fully integrated titanium minerals producer and pigment manufacturer. At our operations in Western Australia, we extract and process rich mineral sands into a range of valuable products which are exported to international markets.

Tronox’s Kwinana pigment plant has been part of the local community for more than 30 years and is a long-term stable employer of choice in the Kwinana Industrial Area, a world class industrial estate. The facility forms part of Tronox’s global operations and plays a vital role in supporting their worldwide customer base, strengthening its position as one world’s largest producers of titanium dioxide pigment.

The Role

As a Process Plant Operations Trainee, over the 24 months, you will learn how to work within a team, safely operate and monitor our production equipment and keep the plant running smoothly.

This is a fixed term full time role, where you will work on a continuous 12-hour shift roster. This includes day and night shifts, as well as weekends and public holidays. Flexibility and commitment to shift work are essential.

Key Responsibilities that you could learn:

  • Operate plant equipment: Running pumps, valves, conveyors.
  • Monitor processes: Keep an eye on machines and systems to make sure everything is working correctly.
  • Check quality: Carry out basic inspections and tests to ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Record information: Log details about production runs, maintenance, and equipment checks.
  • Troubleshoot: Learn how to spot and help fix simple equipment or process issues.

What we are looking for:

To be successful, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of Secondary Schooling (Essential)
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment (Essential)
  • Completion of Certificate II in Process Plant Operations (Advantageous)
  • Interest in mechanical or technical systems
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions, with a proactive attitude toward skill development
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing tasks safely and accurately
  • Reliable, safety-focused approach with a positive and motivated work ethic
  • Enjoyment of practical, hands-on work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong computer literacy and a readiness to learn new systems
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment and drug & alcohol screening
